Alliance Partners

Alliance Partners are professional organizations and societies that align themselves with BD-Institute's commitment to enhancing organizations through the BD-CMM. They participate in BD-Institute's community of practice to further business development best practices and capability growth. This brings the following benefits to both the BD-Institute and the BD-CMM:

  • Bring the richness of diversity to BD-CMM characterizations of the BD environment and process improvement
  • Enable extension of BD-CMM capability levels and improvement paths to an increasing range of business types, industries, and marketplaces
  • Have the unique opportunity to shape future versions of the BD-CMM and participate in BD-Institute initiatives, research, and development

Effective March 9, 2009, the BD-Institute joined with six other non- profit organizations to form the International Business Development Council (IBDC). The IBDC mission is to connect professional and trade associations involved in the life-cycle of business development. The six other founding organizations are:

  • Association for Strategic Planning (ASP)
  • Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP®)
  • International Association of Contract &Commercial Management (IACCM)
  • International Project Management Association's (IPMA) U.S. affiliate, American Society for the Advancement of Project Management (asapm)
  • National Contract Management Association (NCMA)
  • Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP)

In addition to participating in the IBDC, the BD-Institute enjoys a strategic alliance with the Society for Business Development Professionals (SBDP) and has working relationships with the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and the International Project Management Association (IPMA).

In addition, we maintain relationships with the International Project Management Association, the National Contract Management Association, the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, and the Software Engineering Institute.


Alliance Partners are given representation on the BD-CMM Advisory Board, participate on the BD-CMM Configuration Management Team, and join working groups that address BD-CMM content and supporting services, including continuing development of BD-KnowledgeBase™, our "body of knowledge."
